Photography sessions aren’t just for human kids! They’re perfect for showing off the personality (and adorable noses) of your fur babies. We’ve answered your most frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your fur babies day in the spotlight.
Q: What should I bring to the photo session?
A: Two items will help the photography session run smoothly. The first is treats! The second is a friendly face. To help your pet feel comfortable, one person can sit next to them (just out of the shot) and the other can stand next to the camera, to get their attention.
Q: How can I best prepare for the session?
A: Choose what photos are the most important to you. For example, if you want to capture your dog playing Frisbee, let me know before we start. We’ll head to the park first.
Q: Does my pet need to be trained for the session?
A: No! I often work with rescue animals that have limited knowledge of basic commands. Sure, knowing basic commands such as sit, come and lay down are helpful, but they aren’t required. He or she will eventually sit, and that’s when I’ll get the shot. If necessary, I can work some magic in Photoshop to remove leashes, hands, etc…
Q: The park we want to use has a leash law. What do we do?
A: No problem! During the session we’ll use a thin retractable leash that we can edit out of the photo later. It’ll look as if your lil’ guy was roaming the wild!
Q: Can I be included in some of the photos with my pet?
A: Yes, of course! Let us know before your appointment. Compliment your pet’s fur with solid color clothing and pick a neutral color (not matching) that hides pet hair. Avoid white.
Q: My house is small. I don’t think it will look good in photos?
A: That’s ok! Mansions aren’t necessary for gorgeous pictures; we take great shots in small areas too as long as there’s natural light from a window. Keep in mind, the location doesn’t have to be your house; we can shoot anywhere that’s meaningful for you and your pet!
Q: Is there a fee for additional pets?
A: Each photo session can include up to two pets. There is an additional fee of $25 per pet.
Q: How long do the sessions last?
A: Sessions last approximately 1.5-2 hours.
Q: How far in advance do you schedule your sessions?
A: Photography sessions are usually booked 1-2 months in advance. Just let me know what date you have in mind and I will be happy to check my calendar. If I have the date available, I require a booking fee of $150 to confirm your session date and time.
